There’s something to be said for expanding your creativity and trying something a little different. It can be equal parts maddening and exciting at the same time. If my shoulder surgery and coinciding pandemic has taught me anything, sometimes the unexpected can yield positive results.

I wasn’t sure what to do with this slab of wood. It was really thin and not in the greatest of conditions, but I figured that it would be best to just TRY something. I’ve been doing landscapes and outdoor themed pieces for a bit, so I decided that it was a good a time as any to get out of that box a bit.

I also wanted to make use of the whole “canvas” and that was going to require some experimenting and taking a bit of creative liberty. I made up a lot, and I’m still not sure that it all works… but it’s there now and there’s no turning back. The slab of wood is literally too thin to even sand down and start over, so it’ll either get purchased eventually, or end up in a fire pit… who knows.
